The short version: we collect the email address you sign up with, the properties you measure, and basic information about how you use the app. We use it to run the product, bill you if you subscribe, and send you email you can turn off at any time.
We do not sell your information, and we do not share your customer list with anyone. Your quotes and prospect lists are yours.
1. Who we are
Mower Math is a lawn care measuring and estimating tool operated by Service Penguin ("we", "us"). This policy covers the Mower Math website at https://mowermath.com, our marketing and landing pages, our blog, and the Mower Math app itself. It works alongside our Terms of Service.
We are a United States business and the service is intended for use in the United States. Our servers and the services we rely on are located in the United States.
2. What we collect
Information you give us
- Your account β your email address, and your name and phone number if you provide them. A password only exists if you set one; most accounts sign in with an emailed code instead.
- The properties you measure β the addresses you enter, the lawn areas produced for them, and the quotes, pricing assumptions, and PDFs you build from them.
- Your settings β mowing rates, margins, crew costs, and the other numbers that drive your pricing.
- Prospect lists β the neighborhoods and property lists you build and save with the Find Neighbors feature.
- What you send us β support messages, replies to our email, and anything you tell us directly.
- Newsletter signups β if you subscribe from our website without creating an account, we store the email address and which page you subscribed from.
Information we collect automatically
- Sign-up and sign-in details β the IP address you registered from, the IP address and time of your most recent sign-in, and the marketing campaign details (such as UTM tags) that were attached to the link you arrived on.
- Feature usage inside the app β which buttons and features you use, so we can tell what's working and what isn't. This records the action taken, not what you typed. Owner and administrator accounts are excluded so our own testing never lands in the data.
- Email engagement β whether our emails were opened and which links were clicked. Open tracking is approximate: some mail apps, including Apple Mail, pre-load images and register an open that never happened.
- Website analytics β see section 5.
Payment information
If you subscribe, payment is handled entirely by Stripe. Your card number never touches our servers. We store only your Stripe customer reference, your card brand, its last four digits, and your subscription status, so we can show you your plan and manage billing.
Information about properties you look up
When you measure a property or search for neighbors, we retrieve publicly available property and mapping information for the area, and cache it so repeat lookups are fast. That information can include property boundaries, lot sizes, and, in some areas, the name associated with a property. It is public information that we retrieve rather than data we collect from those individuals, and it is not gathered from any relationship they have with us.
If you market to the prospects you find, that outreach is yours, not ours. You're responsible for following the laws that apply to it β including do-not-call rules, CAN-SPAM, and any state restrictions on unsolicited contact. We provide the list; how you use it is your call and your responsibility.
3. How we use it
- To run the service β measure properties, build quotes, generate PDFs, and keep your work saved.
- To sign you in, and to keep your account secure.
- To take payment and manage your subscription.
- To send you service email you can't opt out of while you have an account: sign-in codes, receipts, password resets, and important notices about the service.
- To send you product news, tips, and updates β which you can turn off at any time (section 6).
- To answer your support questions.
- To understand how the product is used so we can improve it, and to measure whether our advertising works.
- To detect abuse, prevent fraud, and enforce our Terms.
4. Who we share it with
We share information with our data providers and partners for the purpose of providing the service β hosting and storage, payment processing, email and text-message delivery, and measuring whether our advertising works. They are permitted to use what we send them only to provide their service to us, and not for their own purposes.
We will also disclose information if the law requires it, to protect our rights or someone's safety, or as part of a merger or sale of the business β in which case this policy continues to apply to the information transferred.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We don't rent, trade, or hand your customer list to anyone.
5. Cookies, analytics, and advertising
Cookies we need
We set a session cookie to keep you signed in and a security token to protect our forms against forgery. The app doesn't work without these, so there's nothing to turn off.
Microsoft Clarity
Our public website pages β the home page, pricing, landing pages, blog, and sign-in pages β use Microsoft Clarity for heatmaps and session replay, so we can see where a page confuses people. Clarity masks text you type into forms, and we explicitly mask every email, name, and password field on top of that, so your typing is not captured. Clarity does not run inside the app where you measure and quote.
Meta Pixel and Conversions API
Those same public pages carry the Meta pixel, and our server also reports conversion events to Meta directly, so we can tell which ads bring in customers. When we report an event from our server, your email address is irreversibly scrambled (SHA-256 hashed) before it is sent β Meta receives a fingerprint it can match against its own records, not a readable address. We also send the Meta click identifiers attached to your visit, your IP address, and your browser type. You can limit how Meta uses this through the ad preferences in your Facebook account.
Other website tools
We use Ahrefs Analytics, a cookie-free tool that reports page views without profiling individual visitors. Blog articles may show ads served by Google AdSense, which uses its own cookies; you can manage that at Google My Ad Center.
Do Not Track
Browsers send "Do Not Track" signals inconsistently and there is no agreed standard for honoring them, so we don't respond to them. The controls described above do work.
6. Your choices about email and texts
- Marketing email β every marketing message has an unsubscribe link at the bottom. One click, no sign-in, no confirmation step. We stop immediately.
- Service email β sign-in codes, receipts, and account notices continue while your account is open, because the account can't function without them.
- Texts β we text only to deliver sign-in codes you asked for. Message and data rates may apply. Remove your phone number in the app to stop them.
- Newsletter β the same unsubscribe link applies, and unsubscribing does not affect your account.
If an email to you hard-bounces or you mark it as spam, we suppress your address automatically and stop sending.
7. How long we keep it
| Information | Kept for |
|---|---|
| Your account, quotes, settings, and lists | As long as your account is open, and until you ask us to delete it |
| Feature usage records | 90 days, then deleted automatically |
| Email opens, clicks, and unsubscribes | While your account is open β the unsubscribe record is kept permanently so we don't email you again by mistake |
| Billing records | As long as tax and accounting law requires |
| Cached property and mapping information | Refreshed periodically; not tied to your account |
8. Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us to:
- Show you the information we hold about you.
- Correct anything that's wrong.
- Delete your account and the information in it. We'll keep only what we're legally required to keep, such as billing records, plus your email on our do-not-contact list.
- Export your quotes and lists.
- Stop marketing email at any time.
Email support@servicepenguin.com and we'll take care of it. We'll verify you control the account's email address, and we won't charge you or treat you differently for asking.
California residents: the rights above are the access, correction, deletion, and portability rights the CCPA provides. As stated in section 4, we do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, so there is nothing to opt out of. You may use an authorized agent to make a request.
9. Security
Traffic to Mower Math is encrypted in transit. Passwords, when you have one, are stored hashed and can't be read by us or recovered. Sign-in codes and share links expire. Card numbers are held by Stripe, not by us. Access to production data is limited to the people who need it to run the service.
No service can promise perfect security, and we won't pretend otherwise. If a breach affects your information, we'll tell you and the appropriate authorities as the law requires.
10. Children
Mower Math is a business tool for lawn care professionals and is not intended for anyone under 18. We don't knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has given us information, email us and we'll delete it.
11. Changes to this policy
When we change this policy we'll update the date at the top of the page. If the change materially affects how we handle your information, we'll email account holders before it takes effect.
